MAKE A DONATION,
MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

DONATE

256 Thrift Center operates solely through the sale of donated goods. Your donations stock our shelves, serve our community, and help fund Parkview Baptist Church’s missions outreach. Every item given truly makes a difference.

We accept a wide variety of donated goods from our generous community members. The donated items get sorted, cleaned, and priced for resell in the store. Staff can provide tax-deductible receipts to donor at time of donation.

Donation FAQs

When can I drop off donations?
Donations are welcome during regular business hours. We do not have set donation hours within those times.

Do I need to call before donating?
Calling ahead is not required for small drop-offs. However, if you are bringing a large load, furniture, or multiple boxes or bags, we strongly encourage calling first to be sure we have space available.

What if donation intake is paused?
At times, we may need to temporarily pause donations due to space or capacity. When this happens, signs are clearly posted on our front doors and windows and are visible from the parking lot. These signs let you know what we can and cannot accept at that time.

What items do you typically accept?
While we can’t list everything, we commonly accept items such as: Electronics (working condition), Books and magazines, Home décor, Seasonal items, Tools, Movies and music, Toys and games, Furniture (please call ahead for large items), Dishes and kitchen items, Shoes, Linens, Clothing, Cleaning supplies. All items should be clean, dry, and in usable condition. Acceptance depends on space and capacity at the time of drop-off.

How should I prepare clothing donations?
Please remove clothing from hangers and place items in bags. We also ask that clothing be kept separate from household goods. If possible, package linens and shoes separately, as they are sorted into different bins inside the store.

Are there items you cannot accept?
Yes. For health and safety reasons, we are unable to accept items that are: Wet, Moldy or mildewed, Heavily stained, Soiled or contaminated with bodily fluids.

What happens to items that can’t be sold?
Items that are not sellable are either responsibly recycled through approved partners or discarded when necessary. This helps protect the team, maintain a safe workspace, and steward donations responsibly.

Why do guidelines sometimes change?
Donation volume, staffing, and space can vary day to day. Our guidelines allow us to serve the community sustainably while caring well for the team and our shared space.

Who handles donations at 256 Thrift?
Donations are received by the team, which includes both paid staff and volunteers working together to serve the community with dignity and care.

What if I’m unsure about an item?
When in doubt, we encourage you to call ahead. A quick call can save you time and help us serve you better.
